Sparta fans express their gratitude and affection for Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye by saying, "Stay another year."

 The young shot-excellent stopper's season came to an end on a bit of a low note in midweek, but club fans praised his efforts in a difficult season.

Many Sparta Rotterdam fans praised Nigerian goalkeeper Maduka Okoye for his outstanding performances during the season, which helped the team finish eighth in the Eredivisie table. 

After leaving boyhood club Fortuna Dusseldorf in the summer, Okoye joined De Kasteelheren and quickly established himself as the Dutch side's number one gloveman.

Despite a poor start to the season, Sparta rallied to finish strong, with Okoye contributing his quota by holding ten clean sheets.

Henk Fraser's side qualified for the Europa League playoffs in the Eredivisie, giving the club a chance to return to Europe for the first time in over three decades.

However, a 2-0 loss to Feyenoord at Stadion Feijenoord on Wednesday put an end to that dream and a frustrating end to an otherwise successful season.

Despite this, Okoye took to social media to share his feelings about Sparta and the season's conclusion.

 And his post drew quite a few responses.

Although a fan of Borussia Dortmund urged the German club to sign Okoye, Spartan fans urged the Super Eagles goalkeeper not to leave the club just yet.

In just his first season in the Netherlands, Okoye was named to the Eredivisie team of the season as the best goalkeeper in the league.
